Ed Brown

Ed Brown, industry icon and founder of Ed Brown Products, passed away at his home on Sept. 15, 2024, after an intense battle with aggressive liver cancer. Brown was born on Dec. 13, 1946. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, three children, and six grandchildren.
Brown opened Brown’s Gun Shop in 1968 as a part-time gunsmith. During the day, he worked as a tool and die maker, CNC programmer, and CAD/CAM designer. During his career, he designed and manufactured numerous parts to improve the function and use of the M-1911 pistol. His company also had a line of M-1911 pistols. He designed a bolt-action rifle with a controlled round feed and offered a line of rifles built on this action.
His gunsmithing career peaked in 1991 when his fellow American Pistolsmith Guild members awarded him a prestigious honor that, at that time, was awarded only to those who had shown the highest degree of honesty and craftsmanship in their work.
